Switzerland 2nd June

Left the hotel early and headed off to Pisa to have a look at the leaning tower. Took the mandatory selfie.
The tower started leaning almost as soon as it was built in 1173.
In the 1990's there were fears that the tower may fall over.  A Dutch company was engaged to repair it.
They came up with a plan to straighten up the tower. However Pisa realised that no-one would visit a straight tower. So it was left on the lean and reinforced.

We rumbled a group of Pick pockets on the way back to the bus, young girls trying to get into the middle of the group, sent packing by the tour leader.

Then it was off to the Swiss Alps.
On the way we passed the Carrara mountains (in the background) where the white marble comes from. This is where Michael Angelo would have sourced his block of marble from for his statue of David.
It took him two years to carve it, He started it when he was 26.

Stopped at Somaglia for lunch.
The scenery so far today has been quite spectacular.

Suddenly the traffic stopped for six hours. Then it started again.

Passed by some absolutely amazing scenery on the way to the hotel.

Eventually arrived at 10.00pm, very late tea.
